Throughout the course of the season, dancers will learn the Pas de Basque dance and the Pas de Basque and Highcuts dance along with a concert choreography.
New or Recreational Beginner: Dancers will learn and build upon basic movements, rhythms, and steps. Throughout the season, dancers will learn Pas de Basque/Pas de Basque and Highcuts dances, Highland Fling, Sword Dance, and a concert choreography. This class is perfect for the dancer just starting out, moving up from Primary, or who would prefer to stick to the basics for fun and fitness.
Advanced Beginner: This class is aimed for dancers who know most or all of the Highland Fling and Sword Dance. Dancers will be encouraged to enter competitions once they are confident with the Fling, Sword, and Trews.
Competitive/Advanced: This class is for dancers currently competing in Beginner through Premier or comfortable with (at a minimum) all standard basic dances. The focus will be on 2025 Championship and Premiership steps along with barre, strength/stamina/advanced technique. Dancers will learn a group concert choreography and will be encouraged to develop their own choreography.
What to Wear
Dancers are encouraged to wear workout attire (preferably shorts and a tank top, but most fitted clothing is fine), knee socks, and a dance shoe (ghillies for advanced dancers, ballet shoes/jazz shoes/non-slip socks/barefoot are acceptable for starting out).
